Airspace Statement on the recent aggression in the Warzones
Recent months have seen the revival of activity in the Warzones. From sleepy abodes which the world forgot, they have now become contested strongholds with all six Warzones held by five different regions. While Warzone Airspace, as the first free independent Warzone community is encouraged by these events, we express our disapproval at the disrespectful behaviour by some of it's recent occupants, notably the Global Alliance.
Warzone Airspace was founded on the principle that a permanent, active, independent community is possible in the Warzones. For over 300 days of our existence we have strived to create a distinct Warzone culture and identity where these regions are more than just trophies of imperialist powers. We have created a theme, the "apocalyptic war ravaged world" which gave our Warzone a context and reason for existence. We have encouraged roleplays and discussion, the building blocks of a community. Finally we have raised Warzone interest in World affairs, whether it be through our representation in World Assembly debates or establishing Embassies with other regions or commentary on Gameplay events, we have sought to define our place of the Warzones to the world we exist in.
The long term plans of these actions is to encourage other players to settle in Warzones and create their own communities, to raise the stature of these regions to be something worth fighting for and that the Warzone Game will be respected by even the most important regions. This was something acknowledged by most forces who would enter with good attitudes and only capture them on a tag-and-release basis leaving them open for others to develop them if they wish. Airspace itself in the past had many opportunities to permanently occupy other Warzones but we resisted because we can not fully appreciate another territory like we have at Airspace. Though we wait for another native Warzone community to emerge, we had also no issue with other occupants such as Trav Khar in Warzone Australia, who has given the region a peculiar twist by mixing Aussie tang with quasi-religious cult. They and the likes of One Big Island in Warzone Asia have all respected the Warzone Game.
This could not be said for the activities of Global Alliance which from the onset had imperialistic and expansionist designs for the Warzones, trophies for their empire. They have never respected the regions they have taken, never had any plans after taking them and aside from letting them rot and stagnate. We previously turned blind eye to their invasion of Warzone Europe, hoping it was enough. However as their greedy hands has now seen Warzone Africa fall to their grasp and their eyes on Warzone Sandbox too (despite repulsed several times in the past, including once by a radioactive Giant Toddler...), we must now oppose. Airspace stands freedom, not fiefdoms.
We realise this will be a long campaign. Airspace is only just emerging from the lazy lulls of summer, and we sensible folk face a challenge against the hyper-activity of their riotous horde. We can not shriek from what is right though, so we are here making this statement today. We encourage all fair-minded people to join us.
