New Constitution Ratified!
AFter a long and ardous process, a new Constitution for New Sorvun was drafted, amended by the people and finally Ratified two weeks ago, and New Sorvun's still fresh forums under went some major changes as a result, adding the proper forums for the government system and archiving the old ones, and many are excited by this hope that New Sorvun shall rise once again!
Elections underway!
With a new Constitution comes New Sorvun's favorite pasttime: ELECTIONS! What is unique about this is that for the first time in New Sorvun's history, the Delegate has become an elected position, incorporating the region's RMB with the off-site forums. Also as a surprise, when it was expected that these first elections would be uncontested, we are once again proven wrong, but excitedly so.
The Election for FRA Representative of New Sorvun has two contenders so far: Likako Nehio and yumyum36, and since campaigning begins today, it could be anyone's ballgame!
The other elected positions and their candidates are as follows:
Lord Chancellor: Likako Nehio
Delegate: Tsruhkwah
High Judicator: Yumyum36
Two new games to play
With the new Constitution heavily-based on a Roleplaying-centered government, the more games the merrier, and two games have emerged and are now in their trial period:
1. Mutants
A game created by Echelon, this is a superhero/supervillian-based character-driven rpg that gives the player control over a being of supernatural abilities, whether they be for good or evil, or if those specific abilities have actually any use in combat, is up to the creative minds of the players. As this game grows in popularity who knows what kind of heroes and villains will emerge!
2. Supremacy 1914
A game that was popular in the good-ole days of New Sorvun, makes a return to New Sorvun with yumyum36 at the helm. However, since the game requires at least 6 players to play, it is difficult at this time to garner enough players, however yumyum36 has been scowering the lands going to friendly regions such as Pretalia, Equinox and others to get the numbers he needs for the game to start. Our hopes is that he can get this classic game up and running once again.
Posting Contest Results
Last Month there was a posting contest using a AiO feature of the same name to entice citizens to be more active, and it was a close race the results as follows:
Likako Nehio: 185
yumyum36: 183
Tsruhkwah: 90
Echelon: 21
Harmoneia: 3
The First Place prize went to Likako Nehio, gaining 10,000 Nuvros (the currency of New Sorvun) and a eloquent user-bar that commemorates the event.
Second Place prize of 5,000 Nuvros went to yumyum36 and a not-quite-as-eloquent user-bar design.
The other contestants received 10 Nuvros for every point gained.
Flag Contest caught in the breeze
This Month's contest is a race to design a new flag for New Sorvun, and so far there have been numerous great designs from our citizens, ranging from the simple and sleek, to the amazing and spectacular.
The First Place prize of 2,000 Nuvros will go to the person who designed the flag that is chosen as New Sorvun's flag, and a second place prize of 1,000 Nuvros goes to the one with the second-most votes. However there is always a risk that the current design is chosen to continue on, in which case, only the second-place prize would be awarded.
Merger Falls Flat
Though the talks between New Sorvun and the roleplay/community-centered region of Obsylia were successful forming the Treaty of Delta that merged Obsylia into New Sorvun, reconstituting Obsylia as a District of New Sorvun, the activity, which mostly hindered on their one roleplay game, fell sharply. The main contributor to this is the re-vitalizing of neighboring region: Pretalia, upon which most Obsylians originated from. Though Likako signed the treaty prior to the ratification of the new Constitution, he was planning on presenting it to the League of Nations for official approval, however with the dissolution of Obsylia, it has now become a moot point. However, Likako was able to retrieve a copy of the game map from Obsylia, which he plans to use in the regional roleplay game once the current map gets full.

FRA
With the Charter Amendment that shortened Cabinet terms from 3 months to 2, last month's elections were a crucial event, perhaps even more so than usual with many candidates pouring out of the woodwork, including Likako Nehio's attempts to gain Arch Chancellor and Speaker however, after all the dust settled the results are as follows:
Arch-Chancellor: Spartzerium (Aka Spartzerina)
Vice-Chancellor: Cocodian and Frattastan
Chief of Defense Forces: The lepearchauns
Intelligence Minister: Chin-Chilla
Regional Recruitment Officer: South Boston Irishmen
Speaker of the Assembly: Wibblefeet
Congratulations to them all, and already they are proving themselves to be effective leaders in their fields.
Speaking of Charter Amendments, an amendment was passed recently concerning the "Abstain/Present" option in elections. A solution was quickly devised and the details were hammered out and soon enough a respectable amendment was made and it passed with overwhelming numbers. This proves that when the RA members are not busy ripping each others heads off, they are effective at getting things done in a quick fashion.
Pretalia on the Rebound!
A lot of regions in New Sorvun's neighborhood is undergoing radical changes (New Sorvun included) and nothing is more miraculous than the region of Pretalia, which just last month only had between 5 - 10 nations and the Supreme Chancellor, Her Excellency Lady Lexi Mountbatten, had immigrated to New Sorvun, however soon after she felt the urge to try one last time to bring Pretalia from the dead, and this time it worked! Within a week, Pretalia grew from 10 nations to present-day count of 60 nations. A massive turnaround that made Likako Nehio do a double take:
"I was checking my dossier and when I looked at Pretalia's nation count it said '60'! I literally shook my head thinking maybe it was actually '6' and I was reading it wrong. But this is one of the few times I'm glad to be wrong. I wish Pretalia all the success in the world!"
Pretalia's forum, once a ghost town, is hustling and bustling with life, however one has to ask: "How long can they keep this up?" or perhaps, "What is their secret?"
Jethnea Declares State of Emergency
Early in July, a lot of regions were hit hard with a tsunami of inactivity, the impact shook the region of Jethnea to its core, forcing the government to declare a State of Emergency, which effectively dissolved the current government and began rebuilding Jethnea from scratch with a new Constitution and a different governmental style. Many of Jethnea's friends showed support during this crisis, some even offering advice to help the situation along.
At this present time it seems that Jethnea is recovering quite well, forum and rmb alike, is over-flowing with activity and the people of New Sorvun congratulate them in all their success.
A Light Goes Out and the World Weeps
A terrible tragedy shook the FRA and its member regions to the core, the vibrant and fantastic region: The Council of Narnia, had closed its gates. The region being hit hard by inactivity, could no longer sustain itself, and the Lord Protector, Fotar, had unilaterally declared that the Council of Narnia is dead. Many feel grieved by this news, as the Council of Narnia was thought to be one of the few places that would last forever, but alas, the shining city on a hill shines no longer. It is best that friends and allies of CoN honor them and remember them always, and perhaps one day, like Aslan, they too will rise from the ashes, shining a-new and brighter than ever before.
