From the Podium
Just a small update: (4-23-2011)
Forum Reconstruction Progress:
1.) I'm working with a couple of peeps in the FRA to help redesign the skin for our new forums, so far it is coming along great. The basic idea of the design is to make it look like the skin from our old forums, however I added in a few details that will spice it up a bit, so it won't look so bland. Once it is through, the design will be installed into the forum's code, and I hope that you guys will like the finished product.
2.) I've got the first half of a new Constitution written. Now, this Constitution is based on the idea of harnessing the roleplaying aspect of our region and integrating it into our government so that, the laws we pass down will have some actual bearing on the community. Now, don't worry for those that don't want to roleplay specifically, you still have just as much voice and opportunities as those that roleplay, after all Nationstates is nothing more than a giant roleplaying game. In the coming weeks, I will begin posting each portion of the Constitution of what I have so far in our new forums. Now, I ask that you bare with me, most of it is negotiable however I am not going to remove the roleplaying aspect from it, because it is an experiment that I want to see if it works or not, and I can't conduct the experiment if you won't let turn on the power switch. I know it seems a tad authoritarian at first, but I must ask that you trust me on this for the time being. I know it is a lot to ask given the history and the nature of our region, but we can't go back to the way things were, that is what got us here in this rut in the first place.
3.) Just a reminder there is a lounge area on the new forums, so you can talk amongst one another, and also the Podium area is open for citizens to ask any questions about the forum reconstruction project (or anything else).
In Other News...
Debate intensifies in the FRA. Newly elected Arch Chancellor Unibot caught fire right out of the gate the day after the election when he stated in his update that is dispensed through out the FRA's member regions (see our copy in the FRA's embassy of our new forums) and affiliates that he planned on dealing with the RA's disenfranchisement of its military arm: the Rangers. But some other issues were brought up, whether the Ranger voting issue was a catalyst or not is unknown, however it is quite clear that the FRA's Regional Assembly is afire with a few debates, issues such as should member regions be mandated by the FRA that their representatives in the Regional Assembly be democratically elected, and taking another look at policy that deals with FRA intervention into regions in distress as a result of purging. So far it seems it is just a big shouting match, however Speaker of the Assembly Silver is trying to direct the RA to produce proposals to make their ideas more concrete and thus capable of further scrutiny under cooler heads. Will this work? Only time will tell.
