Just out of curiosity, Where does your faith lie? You do not have to post what you chose, unless you want to. Please, I do not intend to start an argument with this, because I know its a touchy subject, so try to be mature. If any two of you do say what you chose, keep all discussions from turning into an argument. Ok, go.

Well actually i belive that god is real and most religons are some interpretation of god or som split up of him separating into diffrent deitys but pit togther they are basically god ...and so i think god has allowed his image to adapt to what ever certain groups of people need to explain the world and how it works ...not sure what that would fall under though

Interesting, I have heard that theory before but not very often. I suppoes it would go under "new-age/spiritualist" because you do believe in the supernatural, but in an abstract way.

Why would you put Atheist & Agnostic in the same category? They are very different in my eyes.
Atheist don't believe in god at all, while an Agnostic does believe in god but isn't sure about the terms/which religion, sometimes it's a variation of a religion more on a personal level of believe. (edit - although I suppose it's similar to the 'New Age/Spiritualist' choice)
As for myself, it's complicated, but the short version would be something like an Agnostic Christian, if you study religion you will quickly find tons and tons of over lapping themes and stories. Like, alot of similarities between Jesus and Lord Krsna being god born into a human form, and of course the messy divide between Jewish, Islamic, and Christian, even stretching back further to more pagan religions that lead to the current ones. I feel like all religions tell a piece of the story but ultimately have been corrupted by time with the influence of man changing things.

Agreed with Neo on Atheism and agnosticism-Atheism is the belief in no deity or deities, agnostism is the doubt of such. I'm not sure waht the classify myself as-I got a primary education in a faith school, and as a result got pretty much brainwashed into being christian but as soon as I got out I was a devout atheist. Now I'd say I'm leaning towards agnostism. I'd love to believe in something as wonderful as deities, (though the thing I wish to most is the idea that all stories contain a world of their own, and we are simply characters in some one or somethings imagination, wheras this author may well simply be the object of another story, and so on) but I simply see no evidence-All I see refutes it, and I can't believe in benevolant gods from what I've seen, so I'll have to tick the damning "Atheist/Agnostic box" Also isn't Pastafarianism a protest group in the guise of a religion?

Agree with Teutonic and Nibu on the Agnostic/Atheist bit. I'm agnostic myself. I prefer to stick with science, and I can't really find any evidence that heavily suggests the existence/inexistence of a god. Then again, I don't really bother looking it up. Regardless, religion does not really play a role in my life. I have other things to worry about.
As for Pastafarianism, I'm pretty sure that was set up as a parody.

Atheist and Agnostic are put together on most formal polls, but I do agree there is a difference, however there really isnt a difference in the eyes of most religious people, which is why they are put together. I think its really the same thing as having homosexuals and bisexuals in the same group, different and extremley argumentative against each other, but still together.
And as for Pastafarianism, it did start out as a protest group, but due to them taking legal stand against a college violating church and state, they had to take their "religion" and make it full fledged so they could stay valid. Its really quite funny and ive read into it alot (I was tempted to pick that choice but decided to be more serious, so I chose Atheist) but the Pastafarians are recognized by the Government as a religion, and they have JUST as much credibility as any other religion, which is the whole point.

On your homosexuals/bisexuals bit, I actually had no idea about that. Just read up on Pastafarianism on wikipedia, and it appears that several other parody religions exist: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parody_religionWikipedia also has this gem: I remember one other option though: Deism, which is basically the belief that a god exists, but that the person does not believe that it is one of an organized religion or isn't sure which.

I actually remember that-believe it or not I'm a proud owner of the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster Talk like a pirate day is a religious holiday for devout Pastafarians. I believe in the UK we also recognise Jedi Knight as an official religion due to the amount of people who wrote it on their census form, though I doubt it'll remain considering this last census had no such movement. I think I simply replace religion with philosophy (I'm quite keen on it) and since all my thoughts and readings thusfar refute the clear set existance of god....Personally I'm far happier to place my faith in my morals rather than worship and the morality I am told to abide by, though this is likely a direct case of reading Nietzsche...
