OOC: The Nazgul's flying mounts are known as fellbeasts. I've used the term many times in my posts. Just read the LOTR wiki (or wikipedia itself) @ Teutonic: True, I like to focus on the big picture. Though that won't stop me from making too many rousing speeches! IC:
Outside Drylts The duel between the King of Kardas and High Lady of the Vampires was titanic. Both were extremely experienced combatants, as the deathless eyes of the Lady met the grizzled stare of the King. Amelia dueled with deadly grace, almost dancing as she parried and evaded the powerful blows of the Dwarf. Thror II, for his part, was a powerhouse, never tiring despite his shield stuck with crossbow bolts. Amelia couldn't make out the throat of the Dwarf however, as it was surrounded by his massive fur cloak (see Thror's picture), and when she struck, the clang of metal was heard as it struck his helmet. However briefly, their duel was interrupted as the Seattilan reinforcements and armies of Austin arrive on the battlefield. The Dwarf raised his bushy eyebrows, and his gruff voice turned into a snarl. "You undead picked the wrong humans to mess with. Mess with the Horse Lords, mess with us! And now, your fate is clear. In your malice, you forget to show compassion. It is this compassion that will defeat you! Hear, as the horns of the free men sound to save their kin! It is something you will never understand." The momentum that the Witch King needed to slam his flail was what saved the King of Eorlingath. He ducked as his helmet was grazed, and raised his shield to block the sword of the Witch King. Though Theomer was mighty on his horse, the crash of the fellbeast denied him his greatest strength. It became clear that the King was outmatched, and could hardly mount an attack as the Witch King's blows rained upon him. Though the King was energetic for his age, and inflamed by the bottomless cruelty of his opponents, he soon began to tire. From the corner of his eye, he saw the approaching Chapter Master, and that replenished at least some hope. "If my spirit must go to the Halls of Mandos on this day, so be it! You give us but two options that end in death! If truly you are so wretched, my name will carry on as the kingdom that stood against the darkness. Maybe we cannot win, but we shall fight on the fields! Fight in the streets! Fight in the hills, under the mountains, in the frozen wastelands. Understand this, foul spawn of Morgoth, that we shall never surrender!" Even the sky is rent open by the struggle, as vampiric darkness and lights alternate each other. The sky is alive with flaming boulders, freezing breath, and other unknown elements as the mighty cold drakes continue their assault.

OOC: @ Canti: Please see my PM
Your comment on Austin's forces does hold water though- that's a problem in this RP, that time is kind of fluctuating.

OOC: Try and guess which one is the real post. IC: Outside Drylts Amelia's blades pierced Thror II's mighty helmet. The King of Kardas, with a shocked look on his face, keeled over backward. Utterly helpless, Theomer's heart was pierced by the poisoned blade and died of his injuries within a minute. The death of both of their kings threw the forces of Kardas and Eorlingath into disarray, and the vampires easily slaughtered them. The hellish rage of the vampires leads them to their new enemies, and kill a great many. The battle of Drylts would later be recalled as the starting point of darkness. The kingdom of Eorlingath was razed to the ground and all of its inhabitants killed, while the Dwarves were reduced to pockets hiding in their own tunnels, driven to extinction from a lack of food and constant goblin attacks. The Nazgul found the ring and Sauron himself thereafter led the horde to even more unbelievable victories. All remaining states, save for North Neo Nibu soon fell to the might of the vampires, and were reduced to small groups of refugees. But the vampires began to hunger, as their insatiable appetite for blood could no longer be quenched. In their desperation, even North Neo Nibu was attacked as the vampires had become consumed by hunger. Though it survived, North Neo Nibu could thereafter never rise to greatness again. As for the vampires, all of them died out within three years, of hunger. Middle Trav Khar remained barren, and would remain so until the world's ending. =========================================== Outside Drylts The blades connected with the King's helmet, but they could not pierce the combination of Excidian and steel far enough to endanger the life of the King. "See that, it's Dwarven quality!" Thror yelled as he struck at Lady Amelia, who was now completely open for attack. The Witch King was about to stab Theomer, who had been reduced to lying on the ground with a broken arm, until ice suddenly encased him (note this allows him to fight another day as well). Theomer fell unconscious as a result of his injuries, and one of the Riders managed to carry him off the field. The battle was nearing its end as only 500 Dwarves and 230 Eodred Riders remained fighting. What remained on the vampires' side could hardly even be called an army. Though the cold drakes were able to freeze the wings of two fellbeasts before they came within range, soon two of the drakes themselves fell to the ground, slain by shadow blasts and poison. Mistika Order Warrior Ihu managed to down another fellbeast with a blast of ice from his own blade, and the drake itself scratched and bit the other fellbeasts as well. A volley from the remaining Riddermacht Riders spelt the end for another fellbeast, but two of the creatures remained against a single cold drake. The vampires were beginning to lose, that was clear, but what would ultimately decide the battle was yet to come. The sky was already beginning to lighten.
Holy Neotopia Palace "They murdered him," Fili began once he was allowed to speak. the voice of the once proud Dwarf was reduced to a shaky, soft voice. "Vampires. Murdered the King's emissary. *sees the Seeing Stone* but... that's King Thror! *Amelia, on the Seeing Stone, jumps into the air, ready to strike him down with her two blades*... NO! *Fili runs toward the Seeing Stone*.

OOC: Well since it's 4/3 versus one, I think it's clear the Vampires will loose here. I think ultimately regardless of what the nations are they should be considered roughly equal in strength. Maybe instead of cluttering up this thread we should address these issues here; travkharv.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rpgmain&action=display&thread=401@sarah, right now basically Cantiliahantan Vampire nation attacked Kardas's Human/Dwarfs for food supply, Teutonic, Austin, and Seattile all mostly human nations are coming to Kardas's aid. And my nation of Khajiit (cat-like people) are discussing the events while on the edge/split of who to support. (if anyone else wants to add more details go ahead my description is brief.) IC: Holy Neotopia Palace (Continued) After here this General George Washington stands up horrified at Fili's words. Washington: See the Vampires spit in our faces! How dare they assault a peaceful dwarf emissary! Captain Tom Cruise: I agree this surely cannot stand, those blood suckers go to far. Princess Juliana: Well what do you expect, Vampires need to feed, so a few dwarfs die, better them than a Khajiit. She looks at Fili as if he is something she's scrape off her boot. Princess Juliana: What Dwarf worships Osiris? None, they Vampires are more our brother than these fools who would stand with Men. Pharaoh Lazarus raises his hand calling for Silence. Lazarus: Hush, my child we will have no war with dwarfs. Looks at Washington & Tom. Lazarus: Nor shall we war with he Vampires. Look. He points to the events in the Seer Stone. Lazarus: The dawn approaches, and the Vampire Council is out numbered with the reenforcements from Imperium Teutonic Medium, Republic of Austin Setzer, and the Kingdom of Seattile. Men can fight their own battles. Both Juliana and Washington look disappointed by these words. Pharaoh Lazarus turns to Fili. Lazarus: What happened to your people on North Neo Nibu soil is truly regrettable, I will ensure your safe return to Kardas. Tom, I want you to take 20 of your finest riders to escort Fili back to Kardas when he's ready. Fili I invite you to stay in my Palace, recover from this, rest and enjoy the comforts my palace holds before heading off. Here; Hands Fili one of the twelve Seer Stones. Lazarus: Take this to your king, it will allow us to converse over large distances between Seer stones, and as you can see, allow one to view the goings on of middle Trav Khar. Consider it a sign of friendship between our nations.

OOC: Austin, I must agree here-I think it’s only fair to declare you are marching your army or moving it somehow first, and then the next day or something, declare its arrival, unless you can explain otherwise.
The Crusader’s chapter master pauses, as the vampires flee, and reform on the ridge. He slouches, too tired to strike out at the depleted undead horde. His once burnished armour is shredded, and crushed, painted red with gore, and plastered with mud. His face is drenched in sweat and spattered with blood-both the foes, and his own- and his entire body feels like a lead weight. Leaning on his hammer, he calls out for his brothers to reform at the regrouping battle line, just out of range of the Vampire’s missiles. Very few respond. Only a handful remain of the original group-barely a hundred, and many sporting injuries ranging from scrapes and grazes to mortal wounds. Nevertheless, the militant knights fall back, most without horses, and those who do, using them to ferry the wounded. Upon reaching safety, the knights fall to the ground, many offering prayers of thanks, others simply falling to the ground in exhaustion. The master, having retrieved the Crusader’s battle standard from the fallen bearer, plants himself upon a small boulder, near his brothers, awaiting the word of the other generals in how to proceed.
In the emperor’s throne room, a linked circle of invokers, appearing to be in a dream like trance, channel a thin stream of nearly transparent energy into a polished silver sheet. On it, an image of the battle of Drylts is projected. The emperor makes a gesture for the mages to cease, and the flow immediately stops. “I can bear no more of this carnage. The vampires are done this day. I hope that a coup de grace is not needed, but I would have an army readied just in case we have an opportunity to scour this blight once and for all.” He sigs, as the mages bow, and file out, and a messenger hurries to the pigeon coup. The emperor sits up on his throne, clearly frustrated by the events of the day. Give me a peasants revolt any day, or an orc war band to crush. Anything over the petty squabbles of the nobility, he thinks to himself… He turns his attention to a map laid out on a table of Middle Trav Khar. He frowns at the names recently added to the parchment. “Why is it,” he grumbles “that nobody ever tells me about new nations and potential allies?” at the apprehensive silence that greets him, he looks up “WELL?!” he booms, his deep voice echoing across the hall. A startled courtier mumbles his apologies, promising that messengers will be sent immediately, and scribes sent to compose letters ‘as his eminence willed it’. The emperor grunted and sat back, taking an offered mug of wine. Terrifying courtiers always brought back the good moods…

Outside of Drylts, King Cailan slowy rides though the battlefield and seeing the bodies of his men unable to tell who are alive or those who are dead. He knows that only the forces of Teyrn Cousland and the Dwarves of Orzammar could keep on fighting the vampires. His Chevaliers were only at half strength and only a fourth of the Templars remained and wost yet they were all tired and injured, some could barly moved. Even though the dwarves could keep on fighting, they lost 300 to vampire blades and only 200 dwarves and five of their golems remained.

Outside Drylts As the vampires retreat, the Order of Mangai moves to salvage what is left of the town. Several ice blasts later, the burning was able to be controlled, but two thirds of the town had suffered fire damage of some sort, and the wooden walls was half gone. It would take time again to rebuild the town, and only the two Mistika had any elemental reserves left. The Eodred tried their best to chase the retreating vampires, until the undead themselves returned fire from the ridge. Already Thror II was rallying the Dwarves of Kardas, readying them in preparation for the intended assault. Marshal Erkenbrand of Eorlingath, who had directed the Eodred from the left flank, trotted up to the King of Kardas. "Your highness, is this truly the best course of action?" he asked in somewhat accented Naugrim. "My men and horses are tired, and our allies seem to be in a similar state." He gestured at the Teutonic Chapter Master. "And? We still have some of our siege weapons!" Thror replied. "And so do they. My men cannot afford to give chase to them. Besides, time is on our side." Erkenbrand gestured toward the skies. "Dawn is upon us, and for the undead to reach safety, they must move. They must pass through us. Better to shore up a defense, so we can be ready to counter them." "Fine," Thror countered grudgingly. "I'll wait. But we see what the others think as well." The two approach Cailan and the Chapter Master for advice.
North Neo Nibu Fili somewhat clumsily accepts the Seeing Stone and thanks Emperor Lazarus for it. He is both relieved that the Dwarves are prevailing against the undead, but saddened that the Khaijit decided not to intervene. Soon enough, Fili and the Khaijit riders depart for Kardas.
