Foreign Update I
From the Council of Guardians in Atlantis
Good Evening NationStates,
Allow me first to apologise for the length of time that has passed since our last update. I do, like many diplomats, prefer to see Updates from the worlds' regions in a timely and regular fashion so as to be kept aware of the major news, the latest happenings, the global gossip.
We had intended to send an Update of celebration. Celebration of the turning of a new year, the passing of our regional constitutional document, a brand new era with Reparadocs as our new Delegate, the selection of a High-King and Crown Prince and, despite a drop in regional size, an increase in regional activity and cultural growth.
However, as every cloud has a silver lining, so, it seems, does our spirit of joy be darkened by the passing of sad events. In the last few weeks, three great Atlantians Ceased-to-Exist. We should like to commemorate Accident Prone, our former Chief-of-Defence, Etlantiss, our former Delegate and The Snakebites, our former King. No doubt they are busy with the everyday struggles of normal life and will be back with us again at some unknown time in the future. At least, that is what we hope. But either-way, we should like to take this opportunity, even though they may not not read this, to show our gratitude for their work, their support and the time they paid in the service of Atlantis. They shall be honoured as heroes of Atlantis for ever. An excerpt of a Memorial speech given by Mestra today:

We have no desire to give a long account of every detail of our work since the last update all those months ago. Reading such a writing would be an insurmountable task and would only serve to divert your eyes from the page. Instead we offer the latest news and then shall let you get back to what ever it is you should, or should not, be doing.
In order to clamp down upon a number of spam attempts and to boost security in the future, a new Border Police Force has been established with Mestra, who also serves as Ambassador to the Global Right Alliance and our representative to the Founderless Regions Alliance, being appointed Border Police Officer. He is already doing top class work and we feel confident that the Borders of our humble City are in safe hands.

Also, the Council of Guardians have approved the establishment of the Atlantis Trade Commission, a body set up by Mestra, Zanvuer, Reparadocs and Marie Byrd Community. Each of these nations should be commended for their hard work and we look forward to seeing the ATC, which is designed to regulate and promote trade and other economic activities, in full operation. Further details are sure to follow in subsequent Updates.

Finally, we ask you to keep your diaries open for Friday the 28th of January for a brief celebration in Atlantis, in which the Coronation of a new High-King and Crown Prince of Atlantis shall take place. Formal invitations shall follow in the next few days. Nobles are busy making preparations as we speak and it would be an honour to see you there.
