I believe it was Trotsky who wrote the above treatise.

I think socialist elements would benefit our society, but not complete and total communism.

I'd say that Communism can only survive in its purest form, but it is corrupted by human nature. That being to have more.

communism is a paradox, you cant have complete equality with a government, and you cant have a nation WITHOUT a government

Communism is state control of the economy without political freedoms. Therefore it follows that communism is not a paradox by that logic. The Marxist assumption that the "state will wither away" is only in the extremely distant future.

I dont think The Soviet Union, China, and North Korea are good examples of what communism is Austin...despite that they are pretty much the only ones.

I dont think Its impossible. I think, like what most socialists think, that it would take a large scale revolution to put socialism into the united states, and then it might actually work. We would have less money obviously, and there would be countless problems, but it might turn out better in the long run. However, im far from a marxist who thinks communism is the only awnser, the revolution will happen, and we should all speed up its coming as much as possible (I just finished reading The Communist Manifesto for my World History class)

From a fairly far left wing point of view, I'd say that all radical communists are overly idealistic. A communist society cannot function. However, I'd also like to point out that at the opposite end of the scale there's an equally dystopian idea. Anarco-capitalism scares me more than communism does. My problem with capitalism is that by its very nature, it is constantly brainwashing, and twisting the populace, often without the people even realising it. ideally, socialism is the purest form of governance, but to reach this, people need to learn to be free, and learn to behave as humans, and one simply has to watch the news to realise we're a way off from that. Or am I generalising far too much?

I think that Communism is doomed to fail because the leaders will take advantage of the system (look at stalin) But that is also like every government ever created cut Capitalism is very obviously A Right away corrupt form of government just because of the free enter prise system wich allows people to rise above other people Meaning No matter what you cant un0corrupt Communism Can be Un corrupted

Well I agree with Teutonic. A balanced, stable, socialist, but not communist government would be very nice.
